Kittie - Kidney Disease + IBD + Heart Murmur

Where do we start? Our cat Kittie is about 17 years old. About two months ago, we thought he was going to pass away. He has stage 3 kidney failure, IBD, and a heart murmur.

We knew the first thing we needed to do was change his food because he was already turning his nose up to the prescription diet the vet had prescribed to us.

We own a small mom and pop pet sitting business called Barkhaus Petsitters. We knew one of our clients, Holly, was feeding her cats homemade food. We had done a lot of research on different foods. Finally, when Kittie refused to eat for four days straight, we reached out to Holly.

She explained to us that she makes homemade food for her own kitties and was also going through IBD issues with one of her own fur babies. She walked us through how to make homemade chicken bone broth and chicken puree for Kittie. She also expressed the importance of the supplement mix to allow the homemade food to be a more complete diet for him.

Today, if we never mentioned the illnesses that Kittie has, no one would know.

Kittie after a homemade diet and probiotics
He is more alert now, playful and, to be honest, a complete pest. 😹 He cries for food constantly. The supplement mix and probiotics have made a huge difference in his health and well-being.

At first, we were hesitant on switching his food and implementing the supplement mix and probiotics.

Kittie has an extremely sensitive stomach and would vomit up anything new we would give to him. Since we started the probiotics, in the last two months, Kittie has only vomited twice. Before the probiotics, Kittie was vomiting at least once a week.

It was a very easy transition. We did everything very slow. Little by little, we introduced something new, such as the probiotic, and then waited a day or so and introduced the supplement mix. The supplement mix that we received from Holly is very convenient to put inside a gelatin capsule. This is easier for us because Kittie is used to being “pilled.” It is also easy to add to any pet’s daily feeding. The probiotic is a very small capsule already measured out by Holly. This also makes it easy to administer.

If it wasn’t for the genuine love and support from Holly, we don’t know if Kittie would still be with us. We are fur baby parents that have been in the vet industry. We feel that homemade food and adding only necessary supplements is the key to our pets’ nutrition. We are forever grateful to Holly Baer, of Superior Feline, for being able to give Kittie the best quality of life.
