For pets who can’t tolerate fish — or for families seeking a plant-based omega-3 option — chia seed oil offers an effective alternative. It's easy to incorporate into daily meals and provides a simple, transparent way to support long-term wellness.

Virgin organic chia seed oil is naturally rich in ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), an omega-3 fatty acid that supports skin hydration, coat softness, and overall cellular health.

When used consistently, ALA helps nourish the body from the inside out and supports a healthy inflammatory response.

Simple answers to common Omega-3 Oil questions

Why does my cat need Omega-3s?

Cats can’t make Omega-3 fatty acids on their own, so they need obtain it from food. Omega-3s are not an essential nutrient that cats need for survival, but the benefits of supplementing Omega-3s are substantial.

Omega-3s support skin, coat, joint, heart, and brain health, while helping calm inflammation for whole-body wellness.

What’s the difference between Anchovy Oil and Chia Seed Oil?

Wild Anchovy Oil is fish-based and rich in DHA + EPA—great for brain, vision, and joint support.

Virgin Organic Chia Seed Oil is plant-based and rich in ALA, ideal for pets with fish sensitivities or special diets.

Can cats have too much Omega-3?

When used as directed, both oils are completely safe.

Omega-3s are beneficial fats, but a little goes a long way —always follow serving recommendations on the label or your vet’s advice.

How should I store Omega-3 Oils?

If using often (a few times a month or more), store Omega-3 Oil in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. A pantry or cupboard is ideal.

If only using occasionally (less than twice a month), store your Omega-3 Oil in the refrigerator to preserve freshness and extend shelf life.

How should I serve it?

Use the dropper to squeeze small drops or drizzle the oil directly over your pet’s food. Most cats and dogs love the mild flavor, and it blends easily with either homemade or commercial diets.

Can I use it for dogs, too?

Yes! Both oils are formulated for cats and dogs of all life stages. Just adjust the serving size based on your pet’s weight (details on the label).

Your products are the best

Your chia seed oil is the third product I have purchased from Superior Feline. All have helped my two cats get healthier. I added the chia seed oil to their homemade cat food primarily for their eyes. My one-and-a-half year old has dry eye, which has been helped by the addition of the chia oil. My thirteen year cat appreciates that it has the benefits of fish oil without being fish, which he is allergic to. Thanks to the Homemade Cat Food Mix, Chia Seed Oil and Pork Liver Powder (which I use to mask the taste of a medicine), my guys are the healthiest they've ever been.

It's a great alternative since one of my fur babies is allergic to fish products!

Fish allergies are rough - so glad the Chia Seed Oil works for your furry child!

I love that we have a choice for healthy oils.
One of my five kitties should not be consuming any fish products.
Thank you for such a great alternative!

Chris, thank you so much for sharing! We know how hard it can be to find non-fish products for cats and we're SO glad your sweet kitty can benefit from the Chia Oil! PS: that picture melts our hearts! So adorable!!
