With the Superior Feline Original Formula, you’re in control — from the quality of the meat to the nutrients supporting your cat’s long-term health.

Cats are obligate carnivores. They don’t need fruits, vegetables, or grains — and many of those ingredients can be difficult for cats to metabolize or contribute to inflammation.

This formula is designed to support what cats actually need.

FAQs

Everything you need to know to feed with confidence

What is the Homemade Cat Food Supplement Mix?

Our Homemade Cat Food Supplement Mix provides the essential vitamins, minerals, and trace nutrients your cat needs for a complete and balanced diet when combined with real, human-grade meat.

It’s microbiologist-formulated to meet AAFCO nutrient profiles for cats at all life stages, ensuring species-appropriate nutrition when prepared as directed.

How do I use the Mix?

Simply add 1 scoop of mix per pound of prepared meat (or measure out 29 grams of Supplement Mix per pound of prepared meat for the most accurate measurement).

You can use raw, par-cooked, or fully cooked meat, depending on your preference and your cat’s needs. Portion the food and refrigerate or freeze for later use.

Each package includes simple instructions and a QR code linking directly to our Directions Hub, where you’ll find step-by-step guidance and helpful tips.

What kind of meat can I use?

You can use human-grade meat such as chicken, turkey, pork, beef, rabbit, lamb, or venison.

The Original Formula pairs well with all protein types. Many cat parents rotate proteins for variety and enrichment.

Can I use fish as the protein?

Fish alone has a different nutrient profile and our formula is not developed to be used with fish alone. Even the majority of commercial cat foods on the market advertised as fish typically contain another source of protein as a base (ie. chicken, beef, turkey, duck).

Some ways to incorporate or use fish:

Cook up a salmon filet and top or mix a little into the cat's meal

The same can be done with fresh or canned tuna - Safe Catch is a great brand because they test for mercury levels

Freeze-dried salmon or tuna treats - crumble one on top of the cat's meal. (This is loved by all of our cats! We do it once per day so they don't tire of it)

Is it really balanced and complete?

Yes. The Original Formula is formulated to meet AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for all life stages, including kittens.

Each ingredient is selected for purity, digestibility, and bioavailability — supporting optimal nutrient absorption.

Does the Original Formula already include liver?

Yes. The Original Formula contains chicken liver powder, a nutrient-dense organ that supports a biologically appropriate feline diet.

You do not need to add additional liver unless recommended by your veterinarian.

Do I need to add anything else?

No additional supplements are required when the mix is combined with meat as directed.

An Omega-3 Oil is optional but recommended to support skin, coat, joint health, and anti-inflammatory balance.

For additional gut and immune support, some cat parents choose to add our Microbiome Booster Postbiotic once daily.

Can I feed this to cats of different ages?

Yes. This formula is designed for kittens, adults, and senior cats. Portion sizes can be adjusted based on age, weight, and activity level.

Can I mix homemade food with commercial cat food?

Yes — especially during transition. Mixing homemade food with your cat’s current diet can help them adjust gradually to new flavors and textures.

How long does a bag of Supplement Mix last?

Each full-size bag makes approximately 20 pounds of finished food. How long it lasts depends on how many cats you’re feeding and how much they eat.

One pound of homemade food is roughly equivalent to 3–4 cans of commercial wet food (5-5.5 oz cans).

How should I store prepared food?

Prepared food can be refrigerated for 5–7 days or frozen for longer storage.

Thaw frozen portions in the refrigerator overnight. Microwaving directly from frozen is not recommended.

This is my first time making homemade cat food for my two kitties

This is my first time making homemade cat food for my two kitties.I purchased the Homemade Mix with Chicken and Liver. When the package arrived, my youngest kitty chewed holes in the bag- so I guess he likes it! I appreciate that the mix makes it easier to formulate homemade cat food food. I’m having trouble getting them to eat it but I hear it’s a learning curve!

Thanks for sharing your experiences! Please feel free to reach out to us if you need extra support with transitioning the kitties to the homemade food 😉 Yes, sometimes there is a little 'learning curve' and we're happy to help! ❤️

Excellent products!

I scoured the Internet to find a meal mixer without chicken liver. I have a cat with chicken allergies so feeding fresh food was limiting and difficult . Superior feline offers a wide variety of products, including a chicken free complete meal mixer . There is nothing else like this on the market. The owners are beyond
knowledgeable and passionate about the well-being of your cats. The mixers to complete home cooked cat food are reasonably priced and ship fast. I previously used commercial raw meals for my cats. Many raw companies have recalls due to pathogenic bacteria/contamination issues and my cats experienced it first hand. My That is when I made the switch to superior feline and home cooking . Superior feline has made home cooking fresh foods affordable, safe, and convenient.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences with our products, Terra! We totally appreciate you and are so happy that the products are working great for both you and your cats! PS: Love the pictures! So adorable! ❤️

Highly Recommend!

I have 3 cats. 11, 15 and 16. I have been making my own dogfood for years. I saw this product and thought Id try it. Well success is an understatement. I got 3 lbs of chicken thighs and made my first batch. Gave a tablespoon to each cat at breakfast. Tiny sprinkle of liver powder on it. They ate it. So Im doing a couple spoonful's twice a day and 3 days its going well. I like that so much better than the canned food out there. No junk! Very happy and will be donating what canned I have. I used freezer bags from seal a meal to store extra. Thank you for a great product!! Chubs Emmy And Olga thank you! Healthy meals from now on!

Huge Relief!!!

I am a first time cat owner, and my cat has had digestive issues since I’ve owned him a few months ago. Literally months went by and I did not see a single solid stool from him!! It was so frustrating because I knew his stomach must hurt, but also, it was a disaster for me, as his liquid still would get stuck all in the Litter Robot or fall apart all in my regular litter box. I was literally at my wits end after trying SO many supposed “high quality” expensive canned cat foods. Like most people, I have very limited time and I did not have the time and energy to make homemade cat food from scratch. I literally did hours and hours of research and I am so so happy I came across this company!!!! I was absolute shocked that I didn’t even need to transition him. I started giving him ground chicken mixed in with the supplement and the very first day that I gave it to him, He had his first solid poop since I got him months ago!!! I wanted to scream with happiness!!! And I calculated, I’m actually saving money by making my own cat food with this easy to mix supplement powder and ground chicken!! He eats it right away, where as he would turn his head with most of the canned food I tried. I am so so thankful and relieved and I’ve been spreading the word to other cat owners. Please continue to make this product affordable! Thank you, Superior Feline!

My 12 Cats LOVE this!

I'm so happy to have found Superiorfeline. I had two male kitties who experienced pretty bad urinary blockages and knew kibble was the culprit :( After changing their diet to wet food I started looking into making raw food for them and came across Superiorfeline! My urinary kitties have thrived with this pre-mix and so have the rest. I'm so happy I can feed them healthy meals everyday. We love Superiorfeline! 💗

So happy with results after 2 months!

I spent so much time researching to find a supplement that wasn’t complicated and would allow me to make Lucky Girl’s food from scratch. I was happy to find this company offered trial packets as Lucky can be very picky. After two full months I can say I’m elated with the results! Lucky is ten years old and for the last couple of years she was declining in her agility as well as had significant hair loss on her abdomen. She’s never had fleas and multiple vet visits, blood and fecal tests, etc showed nothing was wrong but I knew something clearly wasn’t right. I stopped her frozen cat food subscription and began Superior Feline with liver powder and wild anchovy oil. She is shinier, eyes are brighter, and has stopped scratching and chewing. So happy I found this product! Thank you so much for offering this! We both are happy and relieved.
