Planter:

Organic Wheat Grass Seeds:

• The seeds are Non-GMO and high germination - we were able to easily grow the grass during testing!

• The seed packet includes enough for 1 planting.

Soil:

• Organic Indoor Potting Soil

When planted, watered and cared for according to directions, the seeds will usually sprout within 1 week and fill out the planter within 1.5-2 weeks.

Cat Grass is full of fiber and very nutritious and safe for cats!

• Cat Grass can be grown from barley, wheat, rye or oat seeds - or a combination of those. Our Cat Grass Kit includes Organic Wheat Grass so it is pesticide-free and safe for cats to eat.

• The fiber in Cat Grass can help kitty loosen up a hairball and/or help the mobility of their digestive tract.

• Cat Grass contains chlorophyll to help freshen kitty’s breath.

• It also contains folic acid, which aids in the production of hemoglobin to oxygenate the blood and help with kitty’s circulation!

• Behavioral Benefit - cats love interacting with grass and this can be a great deterrent from munching on your house plants and give them a safe interaction with a similar plant they would find outdoors!

1. Add soil to a bowl and mix the soil with warm water to moisten it - be careful not be oversaturate

2. Add all but 2-3 TB of the moistened soil to the planter

3. Sprinkle the entire packet of seeds in an even layer over the soil in the planter - this will ensure a dense growth of Cat Grass

4. Cover the seeds with the remaining 2-3 TB of soil and pat gently

5. Place the planter in a warm area away from direct sunlight, but not in complete darkness, which can cause mold

6. From planting onward, check moisture daily and keep the soil moist (but do not over water)

7. After the sprouts start to appear, move the planter to a sunny location

8. Water grass as needed - usually a few TB every other day is good, depending on sun exposure

9. When grass reaches 4-5,” it is ready to give to your pet!

When cared for regularly, your full-grown Cat Grass can last up to 4 weeks!

1. Give a few tablespoons of water every other day. (If you over-water, it will flow out of the mesh drainage on the bottom of the planter)

2. If your Cat Grass gets a little bushy or ragged (from the kitties munching on it), give it a haircut with a scissors - chop it straight across.

3. Put the Cat Grass on a windowsill (give it some sunlight) for at least a couple hours each day to make it last longer. Cat Grass left on the floor doesn’t last as long.

4. Optional - put it in the refrigerator overnight or to store it for a couple days.

5. Allow kitty to eat the grass directly off the plant - no need to chop it off first.

6. When the Cat Grass starts to wilt or turn brown, that’s the sign you’ll need to toss it and replant!

Pre-Grown Organic Wheat Grass safe for Cats:

• Check your local supermarkets for Organic Wheat Grass in the Produce department. Many Vons/Albertsons offers this and Jimbo’s Naturally in the greater San Diego area has multiple size options. We’re always on the lookout for more places and will keep this list updated!
